Hidden fortune. Hidden danger.

Madison Reynolds deCordova is about to uncover a dangerous secret…literally.

During In a Pinch Professional Services’s latest gig at an upholstery shop, Madison finds a chair that’s perfect for her husband’s birthday gift. At least it will be, once she removes the worn velvet. Hiding the chair at Granny Bert’s, Madison tackles her first solo upholstery project but soon discovers more than she bargained for! A hidden treasure beneath the cushion puts her in the middle of a new mystery and new danger.

The treasure isn’t her only problem. While helping a young boy find his lost dog, Madison lands on the wrong side of surly businessman Lamont Andrews. Meanwhile, best friend Genny is worried about one of her café patrons. Mr. Pruett’s wild stories are getting wilder each day, and now he’s missing. Plus, there’s the matter of a troublesome new habit Maddy seems to have acquired: breaking and entering. It’s a harsh term for simply trying to rescue a dog and save an old man.

Somehow, she knows it all fits together. But what does a lost dog, a cluttered old barn, Mr. Pruett’s disappearance, and a hidden treasure have to do with her chair? Now someone is stalking her and her grandmother, and Madison knows that danger is on its way.

As always, The Sisters are full of fun, excitement, family antics, and more danger than the law allows!

I've found a new cozy mystery series to binge on. I first read and loved Becki Willis last year, reading Book 8 (Wildflower Wedding), while she was on tour with Lone Star Book Bloggers. I meant to go back and read them all, I liked it that much.

So this year, I jumped at the chance to read and review Book 9, Sitting on a Fortune, for this tour. I also discovered that Books 1-4 are now out on audio. So I listened a bit. Before I knew it, I had listened right through the end of Book 4. If you love a good cozy, especially when accompanied by awesome "village" folks and a town (or two) which takes on its own character, I advise you to do the same. Especially if you love the good things about Texas, which are excellently added in for flavor. If you are already a Sisters Mystery series fan, you'll really want to revisit the books again, the narrator is that good. Don't worry--she's got the accents down right, all of them.

Of course, I sped next through Book Nine, too. Everyone's favorite Granny Bert and her inheritance supplies great spice in this book, as well as giving Maddie quite a bit of anxiety. And this time, Madison gets into plenty of trouble with her best friend, Genny, while one of the long time town members, finally, gets a day in the book. (I'm not going to spoil it and tell you who it is). There is something about Maddie and Genny, and they way they fearless walk into trouble (create it?!), that takes me all the way back to Nancy and Bess, of the Nancy Drew Mysteries, but this time in an adult way. That is a great thing of happiness, and makes the book even that much better, to me. The solve is satisfying, but also leaves some room for exploration in Book 10, which will be published later this year.

Of course there's also Brash and the kids, and a bit of Genny's husband, Cutter. There wasn't much time to bask in wedded bliss, but, then again, there was a mystery to be solved.

I think one of the things I like about these books is how there really is not a wasted word. When you are hooked in the story, it's easy to speed along, while getting the richness of Maddie's new life, which she's settled into quite well. Kudos to the author for another great addition to the series. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good cozy.

Thank you for the review copy, in exchange for an honest opinion.
